i am a holder of space

welcome…

I’m Katie Seaman, founder of Simply Present. I’ve been supporting people to find calm, clarity and connection since 2018.

Essentially I offer people space. In our frenetic modern lives filled with busyness and distraction, finding the moments and means to pause, to reflect, to connect with our own needs, wisdom and instincts is increasingly difficult.

In various ways, I help people come home.

Home to the present moment.

Home to themselves.

Home to what is most important.

Home to our interconnectedness.

All of my coaching, courses and workshops are mindfulness-based, but I incorporate many different teachings, methodologies and disciplines that I have found helpful on my own personal journey. I can’t claim that any of the things I offer are new or my own - many are ancient practices. But perhaps my curation of these diverse approaches is unique to me? These include psychology, neuroscience, creative visualisation, Non Violent Communication, Internal Family Systems, Eastern philosophies, creative art practice and the abundant lessons of the natural world around us.

With a personal mindfulness practice of over a decade, I began my teaching and coaching journey by training with the Mindfulness in Schools Project to deliver mindfulness curricula to children in primary and secondary schools. Demand for adult support led me to gain my Level 4 Certificate in Integrated Mindfulness & Compassion in Professional Practice through Mindfulness UK and certified by the Counselling and Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body (CPCAB). I left my part-time marketing job in 2021 to set up my own business Blackwater Coaching which has now evolved into Simply Present.

When I’m not wearing my Simply Present hat, I work part time as Senior Coach, Wellbeing and Resilience Specialist for Encompass Equality where I provide 1-2-1 coaching and create and deliver resilience, wellbeing, stress-management and compassionate communication courses for corporate clients.

My Values

All of my work and how I show up in the world is informed by my personal core values. These are:

  • Mindfulness: Modelling and embodying present moment awareness and the attitudes of mindfulness

  • Simplicity: Understanding what is important and what is enough

  • Creativity: Being open, curious and playful in this beautiful collaboration called Life

  • Connection: Knowing we are all connected to and supported by each other, all living things and something greater than that

  • Balance: Honouring the need for both service and self-care

  • Growth: Always working towards deeper understanding of the world and what it means to be human
